Overview
We have a lot of cards in our wallet! Remember the time where the main functionality of wallet was to carry cash and a photo of dear one? Simpler times! Now instead of cash, we carry different payment and membership cards and keep that photo as wallpaper of our cellphone. In this project, we tried to remove the wallet.
We tried to remove the wallet altogether by replacing all the cards just with OneCard.

My Role
I led product design of the project while working with the team of 4. After creating the hi-fi interactive prototypes and I did usability testing on it and improved the interface in the next iteration. I used framer to incorporate motions to make interactions more lively and realistic.

Card payments make daily life easier and you don’t have to carry cash everywhere you go. But that ease becomes a complexity when you have more than 3 cards with you in your wallet. In addition to that, we have membership cards, access cards, etc Imagine a world where you will just carry one card with you and it will work in every situation.
After talking with users and 91 survey responses later, we found:
Market research says most card management systems out there incorporates payment cards and gift cards but only plastc provides membership cards. Fingerprint scanner for security is still not available on any card. A major problem with the current cards is not providing EVM chip option.
After data collection and analysis, we started ideating to explore different interactions on the cards and it’s physical design. We explored different aspects of the card like display, NFC feature, where would chip go, how users would interact with the interface.
Participants believed that the e-ink display is touch sensitive and were trying to interact with it instead of the touch sensor.
Participants raised concerns over the security of their fingerprint in case card is stolen or lost.
Participants expected card to have longer battery life and durability and did not mind spending extra money for the card
OneCard replaces all the cards in your wallet which includes payment cards, membership cards, gift cards and pretty much every card which has barcodes, magnetic stripe, NFC, EVM chips. It has fingerprint scanner for added security, accompayning with an app to easily manage your cards.
Adding new card is as easy as taking photo of the new card. Card will also come with swiper which can be connected to the phone, so that magnetic strips will be swiped and added to the app.
Functionality to select default payment card so the user doesn't need to select card everytime they make the payment.
Payment history of all the purchases will be available at one place.
PIN code security for the app so that user’s financial data will be secured even if the phone is stolen or lost.
